This year marks the 10th anniversary since Spike Milligan’s death.  In this authored documentary for ITV1’s Perspectives, John Sergeant, who has been obsessed with Milligan since childhood, will tell the story of how Spike not only created ‘alternative comedy’ in Britain, but defined the modern British sense of humour.

BBC Two to host brand new gastronomy quiz format

Alison Kirkham, Commissioning Editor for Formats & Features on BBC Two, announced today A Question Of Taste a new quiz show for “foodies” presented by Kirsty Wark, who is currently appearing on Celebrity Masterchef. Kirsty Wark says: “This is going to be a real joy for me as I am crazy about cooking, and pitting enthusiastic cooks against each other and the audience at home with questions about ingredients, foodie facts, famous chefs and using archive from some kitchen greats – will I hope, be a very tasty dish.”

If Walls Could Talk: An Intimate History of the Home” (it comes out in the U.S. next year), accompanied a four-part BBC television series of the same name. In a land of ponderous dons, Dr. Lucy, a thirty-seven-year-old bluestocking with a barrette, has caused a sensation. For one episode, Worsley, who seemed to be wearing nothing but a marcel wave, reenacted an Art Deco-era bubble bath.

Silver River is producing Channel 4’s first primetime AFP series – an ambitious multiplatform project that will attempt to tap into the British public’s latent talents. The 6 x 60-min HIDDEN TALENT will be presented by Radio 5 Live’s Richard Bacon. C4 commissioning editor Tanya Shaw said: “This cross-platform commission presents an exciting opportunity not only for the individuals featured in the series but also for the audience at home, who can take part in a series of specially designed interactive tests on the show’s website to uncover their own hidden potential.” Silver River chief executive and executive producer Daisy Goodwin said: “We are finding people with amazing aptitudes they knew nothing about – one person said it was like discovering a superpower”.
