Supersizers Go…

6 x 60′ BBC2

Sue Perkins and Giles Coren follow on from their successful foray into Edwardian dining to give us a series covering the eating habits of the British over the last 500 years.

Resplendent in period costume Sue and Giles will eat their way through typical menus representing Elizabethan, Restoration, Regency, Victorian, World War II and 1970’s dining. Bringing history alive with wit, humour and the occasional burp, they will experience the food that shaped a nation, including Queen Elizabeth’s meal – complete with leaping frog pie – at Ingatestone Hall, a Royalist Feast at Ham House, and a Great Exhibition Picnic in the Natural History Museum.

On hand to feed them everyday delights at home such as sheeps head, coxcombs and eel, all washed down with copious amounts of beer, wine and hippocras, are guest chefs including, Paul Merrett, Sophie Grigson, and Allegra McEvedy.
