Sex, Drugs and Rock N’ Roll

Sex, Drugs and Rock N' RollSex, Drugs and Rock N’ Roll: the 60s Revisited

3 x 60′ for Five

Sex, Drugs and Rock N’ Roll will be an extraordinary history archive event on British television.

For forty years, three hundred extraordinary interviews including some of the biggest names in British popular and political culture have lain unseen. Now FIVE can exclusively reveal these incredibly frank testimonies from the most explosive year in British post war history. There are interviews with massive celebrities such as Sean Connery, Cilla, Lulu and Peter Cook. There are interviews with controversial figures such as Enoch Powell, Quentin Crisp and Robert Maxell. The transcripts give an extraordinary insight into their personal lives and reveal the real world of Britain in 1968.

The interviews were conducted by sixties’ television legend Bernard Braden. He recorded them himself, at his own expense as a project to chronicle the lives of Britain’s famous and infamous. In doing so, he created his own slice of history. He died before he could reveal his work to the world and since his death, it has remained forgotten…..until now.

Some of the class of 1968 will come face to face with themselves forty years ago. In new interviews, some of the class of ’68 will come face to face with themselves forty years ago. They will cut through the truth and the fiction of 1968. What was it really like in the most memorable year of post war British history…. And what they would say to the person they were forty years ago.
