Simon Armitage Poem on 9/11 is a powerful and moving tribute to those who lost their lives in the world trade centre in 2001. It features Rufus Sewell, playing a British trader caught up in the events of that day and based on extensive research the poem explores what happened inside the towers before and after the World Trade Centre was attacked. The programme features the testimonials of those who witnessed and experienced what happened that day. Both inside and outside the towers, it contains interviews with survivors, like Joanne Capestro who escaped from the 87th floor and got outside, only to see the towers collapse immediately behind her. It also includes interviews with the relatives of those who weren’t so fortunate; with people such as Patricia Bingley, who saw the plane go into her son’s office live on television and knew straight away that he had been killed. Armitage’s poem is a thought provoking, haunting memorial, to everyone who lost their lives on 9/11.
