The Diets That Time Forgot

6×60′

Could the diets of the past help the slimmers of 2008. This format sees 21st century slimmers spending 24 days on weight loss diets and fitness regimes that were popular in the Late Victorian and Edwardian periods and the ‘roaring’ Twenties. We look at the influences that have shaped us since we first became self-consciously fat, and pick up practical advice from our ancestors’ demonstrably more successful efforts to stay trim. And we’ll be finding out which plan works best; is it the Banting diet – first published in the 1863, the ‘chew chew’ diet of the early 1900s or the first calorie counting Lulu diet – the best selling non fiction publication of 1922?
